Listen, I love Arnold Bocklin just as much as the next person. Probably more. I especially love Korrodi by Mario Feliciano, as an excercise in distilling the essence of something—along the lines of Marian from Commercial.
Maybe my approach is just getting a little more subtle as I get older? Since Beastly I haven’t been so afraid of straight lines, and Retail kinda opened me up to having fun in the light weights, so here we are. What’s next after this? Arts & Crafts? Dada? Or just another neo-grotesque? Only time will tell. I have no regrets.
